Welcome to the Department of International Relations at Eastern Mediterranean University where we offer undergraduate, Master’s and PhD degrees in International Relations.
The study of international politics has never been more exciting or more interesting than it is today. Technological developments have made it possible that we – the students of International Relations – can have instantaneous access to the most in-depth news of – be it the global financial crisis, the Arab uprising(s) or particular election results of a remote country. Today, we are all bombarded by enormous amount of information coming from the electronic media through our satellite TVs, computers, smart-try phones as well as the traditional media. The question is how do we try to make sense of all these enormous amount of information, so that we can make sensible political judgments? The answer is studying international relations systematically in an academic setting! The Department of International Relations at Eastern Mediterranean University surely offers such an academic setting.
The Department of International Relations at Eastern Mediterranean University is one of the leading international relations communities in both sides of Cyprus – the north and the south. The Department is committed to supporting students in their journey to grasp the complexity as a whole as well as the interplay of the different components of the contemporary dynamic world.
Understanding the contemporary dynamic world necessitates careful blending of both practice and
the theory. In that regard, our faculty members can be classified broadly into two as the policy-oriented scholars and international relations professionals. Some of them produce strictly academic outputs, while the others are deeply involved in more policy oriented affairs by writing or voicing opinion pieces in the printed and more technological media outlets, consulting for the governments, 
international organizations and local and international think-tanks.
With our wide and dynamic range of courses in all degree levels offered, international and cosmopolitan faculty, diverse international student body and constantly developing facilities, we aim to provide you with a superior educational experience that will serve you and your communities well in your future lives.
